INTRODUCTION
The Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA) is a Non Governmental Organization and Non profit sharing. It is an association of entrepreneurs with common goal of protecting and improving the business environment for their benefits and those of the community.
The Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture was established in 1965 for the promotion and protection of Trade and Industry and to represent and express the opinion of the business community on questions affecting the Trade and Industry of Kwara State and where applicable the whole Federation. The chamber was incorporated in July, 1973 as an association and its income and property are applied solely to the promotion of its Objects.
The chamber is a member of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and through it, affiliated to the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce (FWACC) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris. It has direct contacts with British and Foreign Chambers through the trading world and it can thus give world-wide services to its members, individually and collectively.
In the attainment of its objectives, the Chamber is committed to no political creed, but assists the Government of the day in the promotion of economic activities.
OBJECTIVES OF KWACCIMA
The sole aim of KWACCIMA is to promote and protect Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture and represent and express the opinion of the organized private sector on issues affecting the growth of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture in Kwara State in particular and Nigeria in General.
Some of its specific objectives include, among others:
- Provision of enabling environment for business to thrive.
- Serving as platform for employment generation and youth empowerment.
- Mapping out effective and efficient strategies for tapping and harnessing the abundant natural and human resources of the State.
- Fostering better knowledge and understanding among Stakeholders in Kwara State on International trade and investment opportunities.
- Creating a conducive interaction environment for entrepreneurs and company executives from all over the world to forge links, agree on concrete business and negotiate trade and investment, which are mutually beneficial.
SERVICES
- In pursuance of the stated objectives, KWACCIMA provides the following services.
- Serving as a central Organization for collecting and distributing information on protectionist apparatus such as tariff quotas, trade potentials opening and other matters affecting home and overseas markets.
- Providing vital information on procedural matters and business/investment climate in Nigeria.
- Issuing Letter of Introduction to members of their representative, undertaking business travel abroad and those who seek to expand their business opportunities at home.
